Project overview
Hire Me is an application to help people looking for a job and help companies, and recruiters find the best-fit people for their job opportunities and connect them.
Project Goal
The goal of the project is to help users to find a suitable job easily and apply for different jobs in different locations which is difficult to do in person. With Hire Me users can easily connect with recruiters and apply for a job and the unemployed percentage of* society decrease as the result.
Target Audience
Hire Me is mostly focused on people who have no income and need to find a job to cover their expenses. Hire Me primary target users include college students, fresh graduates from universities, and adults who are unemployed.
Key Challenge or Constraints
The key challenge of the project was time limitations. the project has so many details and I had to do lots of work in a limited time, so this was a big challenge for me.
Usability Study Parameters
-
Study Type: Unmoderated
-
Location: Europe
-
Participants: 4
-
Length: 30-60 minutes
Findings:
-
people want to know the salary range in different cities and states
-
users want to share a job with others on different platforms
-
users want to bookmark jobs to check later
Research Study Details
I used Hire Me data to develop interview questions which there were used to conduct user interviews. Most of the people participants in the interview reported they need a job with enough income to cover their daily life needs, but they didn’t know how to look for a job and mostly they can’t walk in the city to look for a job. Their feedback received through research made it clear that users would be open and willing to work if they have access to an application to help them to find a job.

-
to redesign and apply the job application process to make it simple and shorter

add remember me the option to prevent entering user and password every time
Competitive Audit
An audit of a few competitors' products provided direction on gaps and opportunities to address with the Hire Me app.

User Journey Map
The user journey map was created based on persona 2, a freshly graduated student who is looking for a job.

Design Process
Sketch:
in the ideation process I did some ideation exercises to come up with an idea for how to address users' need

Digital Wireframes:
Based on research study, ideation and sketches I did a wireframe design with some changes

Low-Fidelity Prototype:
Based on designed wireframe low-fidelity prototype designed to better understand what is a user's journey to complete a task

Mockups:
Based on the insights from the usability studies, I applied design changes like providing a shared bottom for users which allows them to share jobs and articles with friends.

Before usability study

After usability study
Additional design changes included an option that allows users to bookmark a job and check it out later in the bookmark section.

After usability study
High-Fidelity Prototype:
The high-fidelity prototype followed the same user flow as the low-fidelity prototype, including design changes made after the usability study.

Accessibility Considirations
-
Clear labels for interactive elements that can be read by screen readers
-
initial focus on the settings page on push the notification to help the user not missed any notifications from the app
-
Sorting jobs by category in the job search screen to give easy access to jobs for users
Final Design
Some final design screens are shared below

User Testing
The app was tested with 5 participants. They asked to do some tasks as below:
-
Log in to the app using their social media accounts
-
Search for a job using the app's search bar
-
Share the job description page with a friend
-
Apply for job
Results:
All participants were able to complete all tasks, however, some of them had some difficulty sharing page description but after some attempts, they did it well. Participants shared they had a good feeling after they did all tasks.
Conclusion
Impact:
Users shared that the app helps them to explore and find a suitable job in a home environment and comfort without any trouble, also they shared that it's very helpful to sit on a bench and apply for a job instead of walking in the city and talking to recruiters face to face.
What I learned:
I learned that even though the problem I was trying to solve was a big one, by using users’ feedback and searching about the different ways to solve that problem I can come up with solutions that helped me design an app that makes both me and users happy.
Next Steps:
-
Conduct research on how successful the app is in reaching the goal to help people to find a job
-
Add more educational resources for users to make them ready for job interviews
-
Add a messenger feature to the app to help users and recruiters to chat with each other directly
